Robin is obviously just busting out with wisdom. I'm a big fan of rolling bevels too. The transition you're asking about is especially terrifying and dreadful looking on the Outer Island just aft of the cockpit area, but I'm here to report it can be done! I went ahead and ripped a few strips 3/8" wide, and with a little extra patience, managed just fine. So that's my advice: half-width strips and rolling bevels. Oh, and a six-pack of Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA might go good too.
