Funny this should come up, it's something I've been giving a little thought to lately. I've never glassed hatch edges, but believe I'll never NOT do it from now on because water incursion always seems to creep in somewhere along the line. My experience tells me it won't be very difficult at all, assuming very light cloth cut in the bias; I figure to use the 3.25 oz satin weave I keep on hand and often use for edging paddle blades, or maybe score some 2 oz per Uncle Nick. I foresee it as just a teensy extra bit of work, because hatch end grain requires a bit of particular care anyway. In fact, it almost seems like the glass would actually reduce the amount of work while improving wear-n-tear resistance.

Glassing the edges of the holes is probably a go too, as long as I'm at it, and would certainly be done prior to gasket channel install.
