: There are probably better ways than this but here is what i did
: last time:
: -put masking tape along the inside and outside of the hatch close
: to the edge.
: -bias cut a 2" wide strip of 4oz glass long enough to go
: around the hatch.
: -taped one edge of the glass to the masking tape on the inside of
: the hatch.
: -cut a piece of thin polyethylene about 3-4" bigger than the
: hatch and taped it to the tape on the inside of the hatch.
: -applied epoxy to the edge and glass.
: -pulled the poly around the edge of the hatch and tapped it to the
: outside surface of the hatch.
: If the poly is thin and you pull it tight enough the wrinkles will
: come out of it and it will hold the glass tight against the
: edge. You shouldn't need to fill it and the inside and outside
: of the hatch near the edge will be clean due to the masking
: tape. Obviously you cut off the excess glass by running a knife
: along the edges while the epoxy is still green. The person who
: commented on rounded versus sharp corners on the edge (Jay I
: think) made a good point: you aren't going to end up with much
: glass over a sharp edge or at least what glass you get there
: won't stay there as long as glass over a rounded edge.

Even with a round edge it's really easy to trap air under the glass trying to glass something as thin as a hatch. If it's not round you will trap air on the sharp corners. If you get air under the glass it'll be less tough than just using epoxy.
Personally I'd just add more epoxy, more coats, to the edges, thicker epoxy is more damage resistant than a bad fiberglass job.
