I mixed up some dookie schmutz to fill a void between the internal stem and the last few strips. There was a 2-3 inch void I wanted to fill prior to drilling some holes for carry toggles. I went away to get some dinner, and when I came back the smutz had expanded to about 2 times its previous size. No harm this time, as the excess simply came out the top of the void.
Does dookie schmutz always expand like that? I used a pretty high ratio of fine sawdust in a two-part RAKA epoxy. It did not "go off" until I got it in the void. It got quite hot, and the air bubbles in the mix must have expanded. The air temp was probably 90F, so this may have had some impact. Anybody seen this before?
