Brian, If you could convince someone that this is going to be painless and will take a 1/2 hr they may let you do it. Literally, you lay a few layers of Seran Wrap over the seat and up the struts. You mix plaster of paris to the consistency of cream cheese and trowel it on. 1/2 hr later you remove it. You are making a mold of the indentation which is what you want. Then at home you finish it with patching plaster and sanding and all that stuff and mount it on a stand so glass can drape past it. It's totally non evasive to the kayak you are molding it off and quick. Give the person who's boat it is a 6 pack. You want plaster of paris which hardens quickly and use cold water.
