The add-on skeg seems prone to breakage and is a bit unsightly. If you want to tighten the tracking, I think you'd be better off extending/adding more of the nice stem strip you have along the intended skeg area. You probably first want to remove some of the stern stem, though it is pretty.
I did this as a retrofit on my Night Heron, keeping a fair curve from bottom to stern. See the bottom third of this page: http://www.outdoorplace.org/paddling/NH/NH5.htm
