Great job - especially seeing that it's your first boat. Most people start off paddling with plastic but you jumped right in with a SOF!! Looks good on ya!

The only thing that sort of concerns me is where you say that you might take your young daughter in the boat with you after you get her a PFD. I'm not sure about anybody else but I think the smallish oval cockpit and relativley low masik you have will easily trap/snag two people if they try to exit at the same time. Also a young child may panic in the event of a capsize, making exiting that much harder.

: In April, "someday" came. I finally convinced my wife

: So, with very little woodworking experience, and zero kayaking
: experience, I spent the summer building the Elizabeth Rose, a
: boat named after my daughters. The name is a combination of
: their middle names.

: I basically tinkered on the boat here and there throughout the
: summer, sometimes only spending a few minutes a night, and other
: times leaving it for a couple of weeks with no progress. I
: decided to build it entirely with hand tools, and mostly I stuck
: to that (the ribs were cut on a table saw, and my drill was
: electric). Not having a workshop, I was forced to work outside,

: This evening was my kayak's maiden voyage. I just wanted to share a
