: Even deflated float bags are often difficult to get in and out of
: the boat, doing it with one full of foam would likely be
: impossible, so you'd either never get them in place to start
: with or not be able to get them back out without destroying
: them. Doesn't take much of a frame to fill up the insides of a
: low volume boat.
I went with the bottle idea. 2pint milk bottles to be precise. Takes a while to collect them cos
you can get a whole lot into a kayak. start with three duct taped together at each end, the gradualy
increase the number to fill the cross-section of the boat. Loop a cord around the first set bow and stern
and run it to the cockpit for emptying the boat when needed. I didn't fit bulkheads, so the stern is full
right to the rear of the cockpit and the bow up to my foot rest. Taped together and jammed in, I figure
I have bigger and lighter bouyancy than I could get with inflatables, and it would be almost impossible
to puncture them all at the same time. So theyr'e safe, cheap and cheerfull I can't think what I would
use to improve on them.
