I took cardboard and cut it out to fit on my Ocean scupper pro TW kayak, traced it on wood then moved the lines out changing the chine’s on some of it as I thought it would give me a better ride. Call it dumb luck but it’s a dryer ride and handdles the surf better. To locate the seat I put the bottom half(with temporary cross braces) in the pool loaded it with fishing poles, anchored, tackle, VHF radio, drinking water, flares, first aid kit, bucket of water as the bait tank and got in it, moved back and forth until it felt right. My padded Ocean kayak seat get uncomfortable after 4 or 5 hours so the seat was done at the beach with wet sand packed around my hips and lower back then poured with plaster of Paris. I made a wood steamer with a Coleman stove and my wife’s good tea kettle (where can I get a nice replacement tea kettle?) The wood was shaped the plaster mold. I have gone 8 hours without a pad and I don’t have any complaints, it’s a perfect fit.
