You don't just push on the footbrace to apply pressure; that doesn't build any extra power into your stroke. What you do when pushing on the footbrace is add extra torso rotation by turning your hips in the seat. Imagine your hips moving like they're riding a mini bicycle. Surfskis actually have a strap that locks you into the braces so you can pull on one leg while pushing on the other to help you rotate when more. Depending on the seat, I'd imagine that I put maybe 30 pounds of force on the pegs.
