I don't agree with this at all. If you set up your seat and cockpit to allow for hip rotation and leg pumping, you get hip rotation and leg pumping, albeit not as much as you would on a ski, but it's there. It's not what I'd call minimal, and it certainly increases the force to the stroke. You'd have to have a pretty tight cockpit to only have minimal ability to rotate. How tight is your cockpit?
