Mcaffee reports android attacks, then offers the solution as crapware on new devices. Does anyone see a conflict in interest?
It isn't the proportional number of "targeted attacks" on Android relative to other OS's that matters - although this data makes for a useful bit of marketing hype for McAffee - it is the actual number of successful malware installations allowed by mobile devices, and neither McAffee nor likely anyone else is providing that information. Android is the fastest growing mobile OS out there at the moment, it stands to reason that the goofs who program the mischief are targeting the new system. This fact tells you almost nothing about the real relative risk of the different operating systems.
As with PC's, operator behaviour is a large part of malware success or lack of it.
