Closing in the sides isn't an option here. Among the many reasons, I am exceedingly limited on vertical space, and quite often must step out from under the carport to gain "headroom" for some object or another. I mostly mention this to alert folks to a consideration that's often overlooked when designing woodshops: ceiling height. The normal 7' ceilings commonly found in residences won't allow you to manipulate an 8' board vertically. Next time you're in a well-designed commercial woodshop, might notice the 20' interior space. There's a reason for it. Think about lumber, that is, boards, and you're pretty much with the game.
