Different tools are less effective depending on a variety of variable, not the least of which is what you're trying to accomplish. Most often I cut minicell on the bandsaw because it's quick, easy, and leaves excellent results. But occasionally I use the table saw for even higher precision. Unless it's something unusual, that is; just very recently I chewed up a nice chunk of minicell on the table saw trying something new to see if it would work. It didn't.

Bandsaws are weird instruments. Some work better than others, and sometimes I swear it's a totally unpredictable thing altogether. Sometimes even exact same models exhibit contrasting traits. No two bandsaws are equal as far as I'm concerned.

You can level an edge on a chunk of minicell using the jointer, did you know that? Cutting minicell is almost like a microcosm of all shop skills, whereas you most definitely get best results by hanging loose but firm, proceeding very deliberately, and *letting the tool do the work*.

In other news, I came within an ace of using VCP or equivalent hatches on my OI v.II, but finally stuck with flush hatches for weight and $$$ savings. I'm glad I did; when done neatly, they work extremely well, I'm very happy with the results. Meanwhile, I just bought a new set of rubba bubbas for my 2006 Norkapp LV. $250. That's BS for a po boy like me, grrr. But they sure work fine, no question about it. But for that kinda money, they better, grrr.
