Hi Bryan,
For the bug problem, try citronella oil. Sprinkle some on bits of cloth and hang them up around where you work.
Doesn't work a whit for dust, though. :)

The nicest vacuum cleaner system I've seen had a water filter on the outflow some guy had blaged up.
Some places have a 'wet-wall' to stop dust hanging about.
