CLC uses shear clamps to attach their cambered decks to the sides of the kayak. The shear camp provides enough wood under the deck to use wood screws to attach their surface mounted pad eyes.

I think Vaclav tapes all of the seams on the Cirrus so through bolting with nuts and washers may be necessary (and seal the wood on the hole sides with epoxy) but through bolting is not going to work for you. Duane Strosaker uses fairleads on his Point Bennetts.

But again through bolting won’t work
You can make your own glue-on fairleads. You should sand throught the varnish for epoxy adheasion.

My kayak has soft pad eyes that also require under deck installation. Soft pad eyes were promoted by Joe Greenley at Redfish Kayaks.
