I agree completely. My other issue with his book is that he spends a lot of time building jigs. While it can be helpful for a very beginning woodworker, it will definitely increase the cost for one because they won't have scrap laying around to make the jigs from, and it can be frustrating if what you really want to build is a boat. He also has some good instruction in using it, which none of the other texts do.

My favorite book, and the one that I think gets the best results is H.C. Petersen, but it gives no instruction in woodworking at all, and it's hard to come by (unless you know about Qajaq USA) and expensive.

My favorite of the readily available texts is Mark Starr's. His instructions on woodworking are more clear, the use of jigs is very sparse and the jigs are really simple, and I think the end result/design is a little bit more sophisticated.
