: Beware of thinking it will go faster if you mix
: a larger batch. Too large of a batch will kick in the cup,
: before you can get it on the boat.

The reason large batches set off quicker is the heat build up from the chemical reaction is more concentrated and hot epoxy sets up faster than cold epoxy.

As a model builder there are a couple of tricks to large batches...

One is use a larger container with lots of surface area. Instead of filling a 6" diameter container, put an inch or so in the bottom of an 18" container...you get the idea.....also, stir it regularly so heat doesn't build up in the core of the mix.

Second is to use a large container and put it in an even larger container filled with cold water. Much like what a double boiler looks like.....also, stir it regularly so heat doesn't build up in the core of the mix.

Applying the epoxy in a cool shop is also a great help. Hot/warm work shops are a killer.....just ask me how the beautiful cowl I made for my Dalotel worked out.....:)
