: can follow the shape of the whole forms, (ending somwhere beyond
: where the edge of the cockpit will be). After stripping, the
: tops of those forms are knocked off to allow for the cutting
: involved in shaping the cockpit opening.

I transferred all the co-ordinates for the guillemot in the book onto graph paper and this was the shape of all the forms. The flat top ones did not have any top parts to remove. Unless I have made a mistake somewhere with tranferring the data, as it was two years ago that I drew the templates.
