Nope, and this is the first time I've ever heard of it. Tell me more!

Texas has a lively canoe and kayak racing scene, with the majors being the Texas Water Safari and the Colorado 100. Google 'em up; the TWS is an annual 265 mile nonstop race, billed as the world's toughest paddle race because of all the obstacles. Anyway, I have a tenacious habit of hanging tight with this bunch, though a decidedly non-competitive sort myself, because I love the strategy of it all, the high performance boats, learning hyper efficient techniques and skills, etc., etc., so much. I have heard of using epoxy and graphite for the longest time, but never silica. Talking about fumed colloidal silica? Why's it work, how much to add, etc., etc.???
