I have a few pics but no competency in delivering them.
The tow ball post is a simple pipe with a larger pipe welded to it which has a close fitting,inside, diameter to the tow ball diameter plus a couple of M8 cap screws at 90 degrees to each other[like grub screws on a shaft] to stop the obvious.Inserted in the pipe is another pipe ,which has the cradle welded on top.This pipe fits inside the other,with plenty of engagement, so it can rotate. A simple height stop ,mine is a through bolt which rests on the main tube end top.I drilled this hole,and others, on assembly with the yak on the car to get it right.This allows me to rely on the me only which suits me fine.
I noticed the local yak shop copied this simple idea and is now selling them.This arrangement negates the need for v strops front and rear,which are tricky to get right.The kayak is very well fixed to the car and my rally driving style is intact.no worries,no step ladder.
