The FRP layup is probably better (stronger lighter). Wood is lighter than FRP, but will probably have to be made too big. Epoxy will get soft when it gets too hot (around 140 deg. F), unless you use a higher temp epoxy. If you are in delamination temps, I suppose you'll have bigger problems than your tie downs.
