I'm looking ahead to building the gunwhales on a Wee Lassie canoe. I see folks easing the edges around the spacer blocks presumably with a piloted roundover bit. I have a 1/16" and a 1/8" r. bit but both have bearings that are 1/2" in diameter. Too large to fit into the 3/8" space. Actually I'd like the space even narrower since it's such a dimunitive boat.
Is there a type of bit I'm overlooking? Is it the bit with a solid metal guide instead of a bearing?
BTW, I saw a great tip on the Blue Heron site under Ross Leidy's Wee Lassie ll journal, gunwhales section.
It involves forming concave ends on the blocks so the router bit can contact the entire edge. Really neat trick but he doesn't show the bit used.
