Just as soon as I got home from up north this morning, I had the Night Heron project on the horses outside and spent all afternoon sanding the thing. Tomorrow I plan to tape off the new graphics, cover all surfaces that I want no paint to git on (just like an autobody painter would do) and get my blue on. This aspect of the graphics work will be tricky since I have never really spray painted automotive paint on a kayak before. I have already practiced the technique some so I figger I should get it on ok. The actual painting will not take long at all since there really isn't much surface area to cover, it's the prep work that will help me kill time. I am running the blue from the bottom of the fleur-de-lis at the front down to the sheer panel then following the sheer panel all the way to the back to where the sheer panels rotate and become part of the rear deck. There will also be a Metis symbol (infinity symbol) just behind the cockpit which will be done in metal flake with a blue background...I will try to bleed that blue background into the blue of the sheer panel once I decide how to do it so that it flows together nicely. I'll be sure to post pics after taping before I paint and after painting but before I remove the tapes.
