For trueing glass overlaps, I find a carbide scraper blade lasts longer and works better. On my first boat I took the carbide cutter out of a cheap knife sharpener, and it worked reasonably well clamped in a small vise grip plier. For the next boat, I bought a Bahco three bladed scraper which with some slight shaping to round corners, should do a fine job. http://www.amazon.com/Bahco-625XXX-Premium-Ergonomic-Carbide/dp/B000288LOW The scraper will accept a variety of blade shapes in addition to the three sided blade it comes with.

For removing wood from the inside of the kayak when fairing for fiberglass, the common paint scrapers with replaceable steel blades do fine if they are shaped rounder and the corners are rounded. As mentioned by others, they are easy to sharpen by clamping in a vise and using a file.
