Remember too that most epoxies and varnishes add some amount of amber tint. Blues can take on a greenish tint, reds become a little orange, even black can look odd after varnishing. So once you have the dye or bleaching agent that you want, run some tests with whatever epoxy and varnish you plan on using to be sure you're happpy where it ends up.
