: Thanks, Bill. I did a test panel with the ebonizing and discovered

: glue I was using (Titebond III) acted as a barrier as long as I

: the ebonized sections on the edge of the deck so I'll only have

Try oxalic acid, get from your pharmacy, have to ask for it, works very well as a wood bleach. Comes as crystals that are disolved in warm water, after it's applied to the wood and the desired lightness is achieved, then it's washed with water to stop the reaction.
