: I'm ready to attach the outwales to the Wee Lassie. The inwales are
: already epoxied in. I've seen outwales attached with screws and
: covered with plugs and I like the traditional look but is there
: any real advantage over just attaching them with epoxy using
: clamps? I imagine even the screwed on ones are also epoxied
: which would negate removal anyway. Are any of the gunwales on
: wood canoes removable for repair or refinishing?

Hi Ian,
If it's going to be used gently, epoxying the outwales will work fine. If it's going to get a more workhorse treatment, screwing on the outwales is the way to go. As you like the look of the fastened style, go for it, it doesn't make much difference in the strength.
