Yes do not skip any. For kayaks they are usually every foot in the long direction of the panel and fractions of inches in the cross dimension plus a few extra keypoints that will be fractions in both directions. "The New Kayak Shop: More Elegant Wooden Kayaks Anyone Can Build" is as good S&G building book to reference.
