: It is possible to add one after if you decide you need it.

: The reason I added one to the N Star is for big downwind and off
: the wind days, and it has IMHO added to the magnificence of an
: already wonderful downwind ride. Also, the rocker on the NS
: makes it a bit of a handful off the wind for lighter paddlers
: and the skeg keeps things manageable for them (probably not a
: real issue with the lower volume of the F Star).

Most kayaks now days, over like 12 foot anyway, have skegs or rudders because most paddlers are at best average and have no desire to get any better.
