I am building a Chesapeake double kayak. The cockpit bottoms have been reinforced with an additional 4mm Okoume layer as I will be putting in Hobie pedal units. The inside is already glassed per instructions.
The plans call for one layer of 6 ounce glass on the outside. If I use two layers of 4 ounce glass, will I have at least equal or more strength? I will put an additional layer of 4 ounce on the keel whichever way I go. I have plenty of 6 and 4 ounce cloth.
