Bill & Mike,
The (solid) outwale is thinner than specified--I'm using up some left over mahogany from another project. With the spacers the outwale is now the correct dimension and should be lighter and nearly as strong as a solid one. I used thinner ply than specified for the seats (saved ~6 lbs) but used a double layer of 6 oz fiberglass on the outside bottom & 6 oz inside, as Nick specified, so it's tank-like in construction. I'm approaching 65 pounds because I added a mast step and DB trunk. Weight saving IS important.
Next steps--oar locks, DB & rudder, mast & sail.
