Nuthin' wrong with being a beginner. Heck, we were all beginners at one time. 2003 for me, not that long ago.....

Carved cedar block instead of end pour, not stem, sorry for mumbling. I add external stems as decoration, boat would look unfinished without 'em, one of my very few weight concessions to "purties".

For the record, I don't care for 3/16" strips. Mine are somewhere between 3/16 and 1/4" ........ speaking of "the extra weight is negligible."

Beginners and noobs may safely disregard all this hoary old greybeard chit-chat about fine details, your job is to complete a boat and get that baby on the water, period. Take the path of least resistance is my best advice. One of the things you're going to learn is that there are probably 100 ways to do any 1 thing, and they all end up at more or less the same place. Do what works best for you. And don't forget to have fun and enjoy the process!
