I agree completely with your wife. 6 boats is too much for a garage.

You need to build a boathouse for storing them. While you are at it, include enough extra space for storing your tools and leave extra open space for repairs and new builds. Start your design thinking at 600 to 1000 square feet and leave room for expansion. Oh, and make sure you can heat and air condition the place, too. Drafty cold garages are no places for nice boats.

Be sure to thank your wife for observing this need and suggesting it as a future family project. Since it is her idea she should be doing her part to help finance it, too.
