First off, thank you for all the helpful responses and words of encouragement. I do have a copy of Nick Schade's "Building Strip-Planked Boats" that I've gone through several times looking for advice. I pulled the boat down today and gave it another looking over. The crack on the bottom of the hull does not go all the way through. The glass is definitely cracked, and this allowed moisture in. I sanded down the area to bare wood and the discoloration went away almost immediately. There is no sign of wood discoloration on the opposite side of the crack (in the forward compartment) and there was no light shining through.

On the bow, I peeled back and cut the fiberglass that was no longer bonded to the hull, then used some 100 and 150 grit sand paper to sand off the fiberglass until I knew that the entire edge of the fiberglass was bonded. There was a noticeable difference between the color of the fiberglass where it was no longer bonded which made the job easier. The spots of discoloration on the deck of the bow went were sanded away almost completely. You really have to look to find them. I will try to remove them when I'm back from work and have some finer grit sandpaper. I'm concerned that the 150 will remove too much material if I'm not careful. I wasn't able to get any good "after" pictures in part because it was kind of chilly and starting to get dark by the time I finished, but there's a "before" picture of what it looked like before I started but after everything dried out. I removed the fiberglass from the tip of the bow back past the two chevrons that start the deck accent strips (one is visible)
