I have a few all with pros and cons. Look for something that secures well on all four corners, is as waterproof as you are willing to deal with, follows the contour of the boat so you don't have an edge that catches the wind, is tall enough for whatever you stow but no taller, and narrow enough it is not in the way when paddling. Regarding the closure you need to decide if you will get into it frequesntly (camera) or occaisonly (changing layers, snacks). I tend to prefer roll closures like dry bags.
