A low deck Night Heron was my first build and I used a single layer of 4oz inside and out. About the only place I added any more glass was under the back of the cockpit.

I never considered that i needed a heavier layup in spite of a few quite undignified landings in the surf.

I weigh less than 140lb and while I never found the NH unmanageable in windy or choppy conditions, I always felt that it would probably behave better with about 10 or maybe 20 lb of ballast. However, it was never a big enough issue for me to even get around to testing that theory.
