: I've been making a GP as a Christmas present. I usually varnish my
: wooden touring paddles, but was considering oiling this one. I
: have a can of Circa 1850 Tung and Teak oil, which I use for
: other projects. Has anyone tried this product on a paddle?

I carved a paddle about 6 months ago, finished it in 50% boiled linseed oil and 50% solvent. So far so good. I originally put on maybe 4 coats - saturating the surface, setting the paddle in the sun for 15 minutes, then wiping off the excess with a rag. The paddle is WRC, so gets dinged pretty easily. When I feel it's too rough I just wipe it down with 000 steel wool and give it another linseed oil treatment. I'm happy with the result. Most of my paddling is in salt water if that makes any difference.
