Well...there's something else to worry about, burning hydrocarbons with an unvented heater produces CO, carbon monoxide, it'll kill you. You have to have an open door to get air exchanges which cools the shop. It's why houses are heated with vented heaters.

1st rule of heating, eliminate heat loss, insulate. Silly trying to heat an uninsulated shop with today's fuel costs.
