: I was wondering if anyone has used this stuff?
: 10cm wide 300 Gram Bi-Axle Tape
: That is about 9oz
: for instance:
: Does it wet out ok?
: Is it possible to cut along it's length without fraying too much?
: Does it fray to billio?
: Any other experiences?
I got a piece of 20oz triaxial tape from RAKA and tried using it for molding my cockpit combing, using 2 layers. The way it's weaved I had to cut it in the short direction to get it to wrap correctly, resulting in 12" segments, but then it wrapped nicely on the combing mold. I don't know how well the two layers bonded, since there is a lot of potential void space with the course weave (maybe should have laid a fill coat between layers?), but it seems strong. I'm a newby at all of this and am just winging it... I'll probably put some finer cloth on as a final layer, or should I just add some fill coats of epoxy to get it smooth and call it good?
