Here's a link to my How-To video on YouTube showing how I used Mini Hot Melt Glue Sticks as molds for flush deck fittings.
I think they work really really well. To date I've made about 6 of these fittings three tests and three on my Mystery build--they all work.

1/2" fiberglass sleeve. A pencil opens up the center, insert your 'mold' and then wrap masking tape--this keeps the ends from fraying and also keeps the size.
The 5/16" mini glue sticks are coated in Release
In the video I use a 3/8" Forstner Bit to drill the holes in my deck. These seem a little large. The next time I do this I think I'll start with 1/4" Forstner, and then ream out the hold with a counter sink or 5/16 or 11/32" bit.
I used WestSystems Epoxy. The chart I refer to is a weight ratio Resin to Hardener (Fast on one side, Special Coatings Hardener on the other).

One problem I have is squinting at a handful of photos online showing a complex procedure. Nick's videos really set the standard for sharing procedures and techniques. I've tried to follow his example. (Unfortunately instead of soothing music, I'm doing this a capella. )
