You're absolutely right. Pulling out both ends is the better idea. Stretch both, then cut off the thicker part of one end, pull through from the other side.

I was surprised to see how 'violent' drilling the holes looked on video. The 'pop' or 'bang' is similar, on video it looks more intense than it is.
The biggest concern of course is that a piece will get stuck at the bottom of the curve and not come out. This seems unlikely. What I expect is this: the fitting is about 180 degrees. Friction, that results in the 'bang' from the glue stick, probably occurs in the last 20 degrees. A shallower angle that some have suggested, or your idea to pull on both ends should eliminate the bang completely.

I expect that after completing all the fittings on the rest of the deck this will become a routine task. It should also prove to be highly reliable--no fittings too narrow for the line to pass through, no glue sticks so jammed the fitting has to be redone.....
