Could work. How about Teflon plumbing tape?

After an hour of fiddling with a heat gun-- clearing all the holes, I had another thought.
Teflon plumbing tape.
I made a quick test, mini glue stick, no releasing solution. Just carefully wrapped a glue stick with slightly overlapped Teflon tape.
To keep from mussing the tape, I carefully 'screwed' it into one of my prepared sleeves.
Same everything else.

Which costs less? Glue sticks at 24 for $5 or silicone O-rings?
I don't think the local HomeDepot has silcone O-rings that big, but if I see them, I'll give it a shot.

Another idea I'd like to try is to dip the glue sticks in hot wax. Don't know if I'll get the chance, my fittings are done. I need to clean up my mess, glass my coaming, put the two haves together, add a rudder .... get wet.
