: "Are you alright?" is a question to ask anytime you see
: someone who has stopped an activity.
The last person my dive partner and I recovered for the police was 15 feet from shore,15 feet straight down. This young man was 21 years old. He'd survived the disintegration of Sudan, the death of his parents, and was starting a new life with a host family who are friends of ours down the street. After the recovery, I had to tell their son his friend had died. Not my job, but he knew me and knew I was one of the divers. He asked, I told him the truth. This young man had his whole life ahead of him. If the people with him had recognized the signs he might have been saved. Tragic, needless loss.
