About the glue laming..

I glue-lamed the deck-beams on my kayak (Aleut so it has a fairly peaked deck). It worked, but man was it a pain in the butt. Had to make separate forms for each beam, rip all the stock into strips, glue them all, shove em in the form and clamp them together (I had access to a ton of scrap wood so I used 2x12's with a single bandsaw cut, ending up with a top and bottom form). I then had to spend a couple days cleaning up all the glue spill, sanding the edges, etc etc. This was for about 7 deck beams and it was probably a week of evenings work. There is no way I would laminate every rib on a boat, too much time involved.

Steaming by contrast I had all the ribs ripped, planed, steamed, installed and faired in an afternoon. Its not that scary once you give it a go.
