Oh, I come by my "ancient" title honestly enough, but I'm what you call a born-again boater. The bug only bit me a few years ago. Unfortunately long before that I was bitten by the experimenters bug. That is also known as the "don't argue - just let him try it and find out for himself" bug.

Having both conditions at the same time is - fortunately for the future of the species - fairly rare, although I suspect Tom Yost may also be aflicted: supposedly the only cure is to have a home-designed and built boat turn apon its creator and perform the dreaded "vertical arabesque" - that hasn't happened to me yet, although I always test a new boat in the shallows first . . .
