Hi Bill,
Nope, lapstrake (clinker/clencher) hasn't been mentioned as a viable method, and the RobRoy canoes were made that way. And it would make a sweet looking kayak hull, specially with clenched copper nails and a bright finish.

Darn, now I want to do that.
Yer a bad man, Bill, giving me ideas like that. :D
