I've used alot of that 3.2 ounce tight weave glass, but not on strippers. If I were to do that at minimum I'd double the football on the bottom, not just a keel strip. It's nice to work with, wets out with little epoxy but isn't the most abrasion resistant in a single layer.

The sides of the hull will be somewhat fragile, so running into things won't be something you'd want to do.

Btw, you won't need anywhere near 50 yards unless you're planning on building a whole pile of boats.
