Skin-on-Frame: waterproofing forms/stations

Hi all,
I can't marine plywood easily in my city. The stations for my sof kayak are 7/16 birch plywood. How about sealing these with Thompson's Waterseal exterior stain or an epoxy concrete paint?
Any other suggestions?
