Strip: What happens to old strippers?

Has anyone here ever disposed of a kayak? I know this method of boatbuilding has been around since the 70's and that some of those original builders are here on this site, so maybe you could share a story about what eventually happens to these boats. Do some just get so banged up and bashed that they can't be fixed?

I hope my son and his wife, maybe the grandkids, will use my two boats someday...I know I won't wear them out. Just something I think about.
